SE Sports Player Manager 2.5.7 - User Guide

This guide explains how to install, configure, and use SE Sports Player Manager for Joomla.

1. What the component does

SE Sports Player Manager is a Joomla component for managing:

  • Players
  • Teams
  • Positions
  • Player voting polls
  • Frontend player listing pages
  • Individual player profile pages

2. Main admin areas

  • Dashboard - quick overview and shortcuts
  • Players - create and manage player records
  • Voting - create and manage polls
  • Positions - maintain playing positions
  • Teams - maintain teams
  • Settings - control frontend appearance and behavior
  • License - enter and validate your license key

3. Installation

  1. Log in to Joomla Administrator.
  2. Go to System > Install > Extensions.
  3. Upload the component ZIP package.
  4. Wait for Joomla to complete the installation.
  5. Open Components > SE Sports Player Manager.

4. Recommended first-time setup

  1. Enter your license key.
  2. Create or review your teams.
  3. Create or review your positions.
  4. Add players manually or import them from CSV.
  5. Adjust frontend display settings.
  6. Create Joomla menu items for the player list and polls.

5. License setup

Open Components > SE Sports Player Manager > License.

The screen contains:

  • Update Server URL
  • License Key
  • Check License button
  • Remove button when a key is already saved

6. Managing teams

Open Teams to add or edit teams used throughout the component.

  • Name - team name shown in admin and frontend filters
  • Published - controls whether the team is available for use
  • Ordering - controls display order in lists

7. Managing positions

Open Positions to maintain player roles such as Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, or Striker.

  • Name - position name displayed on player cards and profiles
  • Published - determines whether the position can be selected
  • Ordering - controls display order

8. Managing players

Open Players to add, edit, publish, unpublish, or delete player records.

  • Player Name - full name of the player
  • Alias - SEO-friendly alias for URLs
  • Position - assigned position
  • Team - assigned team
  • Squad Number - optional shirt or squad number
  • Management - marks the record as management staff
  • Sponsor 1 / Sponsor 2 - optional sponsor names
  • Player Image - main photo
  • Age - optional age value
  • Date Joined - date the player joined the club
  • Biography - long-form player profile content
  • Status - published or unpublished

To add a player

  1. Open Players.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the player name.
  4. Select a position.
  5. Select a team if needed.
  6. Enter squad number and sponsor details if required.
  7. Upload or select a player image.
  8. Add age, join date, and biography if desired.
  9. Set the record to Published.
  10. Save the record.

10. CSV import and export

The dashboard includes import and export actions for bulk player management.

  • The component accepts .csv files.
  • If a CSV row contains a matching player ID, that player can be updated.
  • Positions and teams can be auto-created during import if they do not already exist.
  • Rows with errors are skipped.

11. Frontend player display

The component includes a frontend Players List menu item type.

  1. Go to Menus and open the menu where you want the page.
  2. Create a new menu item.
  3. Select menu item type SE Sports Player Manager > Players List.
  4. Optionally choose a specific team to filter the list.
  5. Save the menu item.

12. Appearance and display settings

  • Columns Per Row - from 1 to 6
  • Photo Height - aspect ratio as a percentage
  • Border Radius - card corner rounding
  • Show Awaiting Photo - display placeholder when no image exists
  • Card background color
  • Card text color
  • Header background color
  • Header text color
  • Frontend font family
  • Frontend font weight
  • Frontend font size

13. Creating and managing polls

The component includes a voting system for player-based polls.

  • Title - name of the poll
  • Alias - SEO-friendly alias
  • Team - the team the poll belongs to
  • Poll Type - Player of the Month, Goal of the Season, or Custom
  • Description - optional text shown to visitors
  • Published - controls whether the poll is available
  • Results Confirmed - closes voting and confirms final results
  • Allow Multiple Votes - lets users vote for more than one player
  • Max Votes Per User - maximum votes allowed
  • Require Login - restricts voting to logged-in users
  • Show Results Before Voting
  • Show Results After Voting
  • Start Date
  • End Date
  • Players - selected players included in the poll

To create a poll

  1. Open Voting.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the poll title.
  4. Select the team.
  5. Choose the poll type.
  6. Add an optional description.
  7. Choose the voting rules.
  8. Set the start and end dates if needed.
  9. Save the poll.
  10. Return to the poll and select the players for that team.
  11. Publish the poll.

14. Vote log and moderation

For polls, the component stores vote records with items such as:

  • Poll
  • Player voted for
  • User
  • Session
  • IP address
  • Date and time

15. Frontend poll page

  1. Go to Menus and create a new menu item.
  2. Select SE Sports Player Manager > Player Poll.
  3. Choose the team.
  4. Optionally choose a specific poll, or leave it empty to show the latest poll.
  5. Adjust display settings if required.
  6. Save the menu item.

16. Publishing workflow suggestion

  1. Create teams.
  2. Create positions.
  3. Add or import players.
  4. Upload player photos.
  5. Adjust player card styling in settings.
  6. Create a frontend player list menu item.
  7. Create a poll when needed.
  8. Review votes and confirm results.

17. Troubleshooting

No players appear on the frontend

  • Check that players are published.
  • Check that the related team and position are published.
  • Check whether the menu item is filtered to a specific team.

Players cannot be added to a poll

  • Make sure the poll has a team selected.
  • Save the poll before opening the player selection tab.
  • Check that players in that team are published.

Voting does not work

  • Check that the poll is published.
  • Check the start and end dates.
  • Check whether results were already confirmed.
  • Check whether login is required.

License validation fails

  • Verify the update server URL.
  • Check the license key format.
  • Confirm the site can reach the license server.
